History And Notable Achievements

Village Lighthouse began as a small greeting card company in the garage of Ron Miller, its Founder, President, and CEO. After much hard work and dedication Village Lighthouse has since grown rapidly into a powerhouse within the gay consumer products marketplace. Its wholesale divisions now offer fast-growing product lines that include much more than greeting cards. Both 10% and PROVOCATEUR calendar lines have won multiple awards for the wall calendars they have published. 10% was a finalist in the 18th annual International Greeting Card Awards competition organized by the Greeting Card Association (otherwise known as the LOUIE Awards). Alluvial Filmworks has blossomed into an impressive independent film company. It continues to add award-winning titles to its library while still remaining true to its foundation of highlighting new talent within the filmmaking community. BIG DADDY was launched early in 2006 to offer a more edgy and humorous selection of greeting cards and magnets.
Village Lighthouse meanwhile owns and operates major online retail shopping websites. Its first, 10percent.com, is one of the oldest and well-known gay shopping websites on the Internet. Considered a one-stop-shop for the gay community due to its enormous selection, its success led to the launch of 10percentGIRL.com. 10percentGIRL.com was created out of a need in the marketplace for a women's retail outlet devoted to the interests of the lesbian community. Village Lighthouse is proud to give the lesbian community the attention it deserves and is excited to see the website growing into another pillar in the community.

Village Lighthouse's distribution channels are as diverse as the company itself. The products its wholesale divisions manufacture and distribute are carried internationally by over 500 accounts including small "mom and pop" gift and card stores, major retail chains, mail order catalogs, and online stores. Some key accounts include Blockbuster, Virgin Megastore, Netflix, Bookspan, amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Walgreens and Baker & Taylor Entertainment. Village Lighthouse also has distributors abroad located in Australia, Scandinavia, Germany, and the United Kingdom whose accounts include the prestigious Paperchase stationary company. Meanwhile, Village Lighthouse continues to seek and gather new distributors throughout the world.

The frequency that Village Lighthouse and its brands have appeared in the media has increased tremendously as the company has grown. Local, national and international publications and broadcast stations continue to publish product reviews and features about Village Lighthouse and the items it manufactures and distributes.
Village Lighthouse's advertising presence in the media has grown dramatically as well. Both the types of media used and the audiences reached are diverse. Readers of Instinct Magazine and Men's Workout consistently see new advertisements from Village Lighthouse. A billboard featuring 10percent.com and its products rests on Santa Monica Boulevard in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, one of the most fashion-forward and contemporary communities in the world. Village Lighthouse's broadcast advertising campaign includes Sirius Satellite Radio. Listeners of Sirius's OutQ channel hear both wholesale brand-awareness advertisements directing consumers to local retail stores and retail advertisements featuring 10percent.com and the hot, new items it sells. Village Lighthouse invests in other print advertising too including local newspapers, local entertainment/lifestyle magazines and trade magazines including Greetings, etc.
